Yes, it's worth reading. The film is very concise when comparing, but its plot structure still comes from the manga.
The manga has a lot of subplots and expands on stuff, I should think you'll appreciate it if you enjoy the film.
However, while it has been released in English in the original 6 volumes it was compiled as in Japan, it is still flipped and sound effect translated. An unaltered version will be coming later this year, in case you'd rather wait for that since it is so close anyway.
