The same file keeps getting a virus. i have uninstalled the file and scanned it with bitdefender getting nothing. But when i run the file i get the notification that something is wrong with the file. How can i get rid of it?
>>353956
before all the reinstall freaks start
run Dr.Web LiveDisk
it will disinfect the files rather that delete em
>>353959
i attempted to disinfect the files using bitdefender. could it be that the virus is somewhere else on the computer?
>>353960
I would re-install because cleaning isn't worth the hassle (especially when there's a chance shit could still be there).
Anyways, if you're serious about cleaning, try booting up with a bootable virus scanning disc (downloadable) and running a clean. Also run any in-system scans in safe mode.
>>353960
maybe but did you scan pre OP
try roguekiller
>>353964
also dr web is the only one i know that disinfects files rather than delete or quarantine but you have to run pre OP
>>353963
could it just be a false positive? i only get the virus notification when i have the exe on my computer. even after a reinstall.
>>353967
I guess it could be a false positive. When did it start. If this false positive just started then something changed in the system to trigger it right?. You using a new antivirus? Or did you just install steam?
>>353967
you can upload the file for a online virus test and it will test it with various antiviruses for you
>>353968
im pretty sure i have ran the game after installing bitdefender and it just started yesterday. the only change i can think of would be a mp4 file that i downloaded from my email. As for steam its been on here before the anti virus
>>353971
>the only change i can think of would be a mp4 file that i downloaded from my email
This is incidentally how people get butt fucked 99% of the time by viruses. Why would you download an MP4 by email? Who sent it and do you still have the email/link?. Can you post a screenshot?.
>>353973 i forgot to turn my recording software on so i asked him to send it to me. Yes i still have the email and what would you like a screenshot of the email?
>>353975
I want to see if it is an actual .mp4 file or if you goofed like a bunch of other people and clicked some shit like video.mp4.jpg.exe.msi.js
>>353977
here you go
>>353978
All right. I'm assuming that email doesn't hide exensions and that the .mp4 is the last letters/numbers of the file name.
I still wouldn't think it's a false positive though. Have you run a scan with anything else like malwarebytes? Or uploaded those files to virustotal like this dude ---> >>353970
said?
>>353980
give me a minute and post a screenshot of results
>>353980
says i dont have permission but i can do it with other exe in the same folder location
>>353982
have you tried unlocker to unlock that file?
>>353983
unlocker?
>>353984
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtml
It unlocks files that windows says are in use.
This file seem like it has a ownership issue though so that program might not work. Have you tried taking ownership of that file?. You can do it manually in the file properties thing or you can try a program like "take ownership" or one of the programs on this page https://www.raymond.cc/blog/easily-take-ownership-and-grant-full-control-permission-with-winownership/

currently trying https://www.raymond.cc/blog/easily-take-ownership-and-grant-full-control-permission-with-winownership/ now

while attempting to reinstall the game to duplicate the problem so i can scan it i got the problem saying im missing file privledges
>>354011
Did you disable antivirus?
>>354013
yes i have
>>354015
Well. Maybe the antivirus is still not allowing you to access it. I'd uninstall it quickly and then be sure it's not stopping you . Then I'd try with one of those programs to take ownership if you still can't open it.
>>354016
im downloading the drweb now but its going to take about 30 minutes.
