Violence sets a tone. Some animes let characters fall 100 feet from the sky and get a cartoony dazed look, others will have characters bleed out from a papercut. The level and frequency of gore establishes what kind of a world your characters operate in.

And yes, some people think this is cool. Maybe not all to the same extent, but regardless, it's not just an anime thing. But because it's animated, they can take it much further. Same thing happens in Family Guy.

Violence (fictional violenve) can be fun. Though it depends a lot on how it's made. I don't really like stuff like Saw, but other things like Genocyber, Helldriver and Tokyo Gore Police I enjoy a lot.

Well, whenever I watch Saw or any other gorey movie, I laugh because I know its so fucking fake and really badly done. But when I see shit where its just violence for violence sake, meaning like this one clip I saw where like, these people are in some haunted house and they keep getting killed in horrible ways. All I'm going is "What is this shit? How is this enjoyable to anyone" Or like this one robot anime I saw where the fucking robot ripped a person in half so hard all you saw was their tounge and brain. Come on, this has to be guro.

You must live a very sheltered life if anime is the only way you experience such violence. By sheltered I mean not only do you not personally experience violence, I mean you also do not read books very much, since books often have content that is even more bloody and more sexual than anything you can put on a screen in Japan or America. Anime just brings to life those scenes.

You seen OP, Disney has kind of set a standard in Western culture that animation (and comics) is primarily is a kids/family niche while the Japanese took animation to a whole new level by integrating genres that encompass horror, pornography, violence, and adult drama to cater to everyone else.
