Hey did Heavy Metal ever release their comics that last a while in stand alone volumes or even the magazine in volumes? Like manga does. Say Naruto chapters came out in every shounen jump magazine but then it was released in volume form after.
And is there any recommendations for comics that come from heavy metal?
Yes, Heavy Metal has published ongoing stories in their own books, such as Requiem. I suppose that counts as a recommendation as well.
Richard Corben's Den was serialized in Heavy Metal magazine late 70's and early 80's. I'd recall it was one of the longest ones there. Can't remember was it in Metal Hurlant as well.
June 2050 was a one-page strip that appeared for quite a long time. There were several artists drawing it.

You got a ton of variety, from b&w pulp to Manara, Vallejo, Gimenez, Royo, Sorayama, Moebius, Hugo Pratt, Tamburini/Liberatore, etc.
Just as a footnote, literally the elite of European illustrators have appeared in Heavy Metal magazine.
