Long story short I was left with only a laptop which has the parameters of 1.86ghz and 2gb ram and don't know what device to buy SECOND HAND or maybe first if it is really really worth it. I'm thinking about ps3, xbox360(most likely not because of rrod chances) and computer parts(which I will explain in the next sentence). I have a x5640 with a p5q se2 motherboard but one day it just stopped working completely even though the green lamp on the mobo does. So I have a cpu(if it is working), ram 6gb(unless it is faulty), ati 5850hd(same for it) psu and hdd. Of course if someone is aware of other better pc combos that are second hand/around that price new let me know.

I don't want to speak ill of it (I use an E5450 on my work machine), but that's a really old processor, and it's only really suitable for PCs that don't do any gaming, content creation or anything else too strenuous.
A modern Pentium G4560 would cream it. It's probably not worth resurrecting this computer except for sentimental reasons.

Similarly this is barely worth picking up off the street.
If you must have a PC, try to find a second-hand AMD motherboard and processor that accepts your RAM and has AMD's onboard graphics. AMD call these things "APU"s, because AMD's marketing department likes making claims that get them sued by their customers, but in any case it'll perform better than your ancient processor and ancient graphics card.

If you just want into gaming, get a second-hand Xbox 360 slim, Xbox 360 E, or the final "Jasper" version of the original fat Xbox 360.
These consoles all have the die-shrunk single-package CPU/GPU, and don't get the red ring like the original designs did. You can identify a Jasper by looking at its power connector. The different models are keyed to stop you overloading a smaller power supply from a new model by using it with an old-model console.

Why should I, over ps3?

- You get to keep the games when you stop paying for LIVE
- Dashboard doesn't look like crap
- If you buy it second-hand the disk drive still works
- Better performance because no "your game can only have 256MB the rest is for textures"
