I would assume all you need is the drivers installed for your computer to recognize the controller. On Windows 10 the drivers are already installed.

Ostensibly they restrict it to Windows 10. You might be able to rip the drivers out, but there's no guarantee they'll work.

In any case, the pad has better latency and a longer range if you get an Xbox receiver and use its native wireless.
