Tsuki ga Kirei.

Came out last season. Went in expecting mediocre garbage, but it ended up being one of my favorite romances of all time. While that's not saying much, since I don't really watch many romance, it was still an all around great show. The characters were actually written well, unlike a lot of romance anime, so it really made it worth watching to see how the main couple would overcome their problems.

Do know that the animation gets a little rough near the end and a scene or two is actually made worse because of the animation, that was the case for me at least. So, I kind of suggest waiting for the blurays to come out, which will hopefully fix the animation in those scenes.

Anyway, hope you like it if you decide to watch it.

Best romance, in any medium, in all history, is Kemonozume. Don't watch it if you don't want it to absolutely ruin the romance genre for you because nothing else comes even close, so everything else looks vapid in comparison. That is, except for close second.

Close second is... actually, a porn manga. Take on Me by Takemura Sessyu. But it's fantastic in the romance department.

In far third place, I'd say Kimi to Boku. It looks like fujoshit at the start, but don't worry. It's not like that. The relationships, all of which are heterosexual, build slowly over time, but boy do you feel like it's one of the most romantic things you've ever watched by the end of the second season.

Other than that, I don't think I'd recommend much. Toradora a shit, actually. As for Tsuki ga Kirei... I mean, the curlybowl was fun and all, but it's just a chick flick, that isn't even a comedy, in 12 episodes.

Elfen lied, if you can handle its gore and utter brutality, is unironically one of the deepest, if incredibly subtle, romances you could watch.

If you get around to watching it, prepare yourself for deepest feels.

If you're into Kaichou wa Maid-sama, Kimi ni Todoke is enjoyable too. And I guess Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun gives that vibe as well.

Try out Golden Time. Same creator as Toradora and kind of the same feel but a bit more melodramatic and in college instead. Both a great romance and coming of age story.
