can someone recommend me a battle shonen type shows were the protagonist(s) start there training later on in life rather than earlier? I'm aware that havng kids as the mains is good storytelling wise for a myriad of reasons but i would like to see if it could be done with older people, i would like to see how that would change the dynamic.
>pic related, it was kinda disappointing to find out that leorio is actually just a minor who looks old for his age.
Not exactly a battle shonen but it's a shonen that involves battling:
The MC in Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor from last season is an adult and teacher.

thanks, any other recommendations are greatly appreciated

It's pretty shitty though

lol, i guess i'll have to wait for some better suggestions i guess...

Fate/Zero isn't exactly a shounen but it's a battle focused anime with the MC being in his 30s
Hoshi no Samidare's MC isn't exactly old but he sure is for a shonen series.

berserk
OPM (he starts training when he's 22)
planetes (not shonen but the mc is 'mature' and he does training on a few eps)

black lagoon
samnurai x
hokuto no ken

Berserk is seinen which is probably what OP wants anyway.

Shonen is the target public familia.
>>344242
yeah, the target public is shonen, young adults/teens, therefore the MC its going to be a teen most of the time, what you are looking for its a seinen
>>344256
And they'll be male too, right, because 少年 refers to the protagonist and that's what it means.

thank you all for your input, i'll be sure to check these out

oi, don't be cheeky wit me, shonen is a demagraphic not a genre. What i was going for was a show that had a the traditional tropes of a battle shonen but the characters were older/more mature
>>344242
jo jo defiantly counts, but i wouldn't mind older
>>344219
yeah, i suppose seinen is what i should be going for
