Trying to dual-boot mint and Windows 8, but Windows doesn't show up in the boot menu.
I already tried:
>sudo update-grub
>editing 40_custom
>installing rEFInd (doesn't load)
>that "dev/sda /mnt" bullshit

If you're on EFI, you should be able to use your BIOS's boot menu to boot both Windows and Linux.

http://www.everydaylinuxuser.com/2015/11/how-to-install-ubuntu-linux-alongside.html ; follow the bit at the bottom about using efibootmgr to change which OSes are booted automatically.
If you add Linux and Windows to the EFI boot list, then set an EFI boot timeout, your BIOS will ask you which one you want, and you won't have to disable fast boot like in >>335108.
