I am paranoid about online security especially because I don't know shit about it. I want to chain VPNs but it looks like most of the free ones are browser based, thus would have to set up a not browser based VPN (is that a thing? openvpn seems to be) a VM (virtual box or similar) then use browser based VPN in the guest OS, or am I completely wrong and the vpn on the host OS serves no purpose? I don't understand most of these "guides" so I'm in a rabbit hole of users manuals trying to old school figure this shit out. if anyone can explain this to me it'd be appreciated.

>paranoid about privacy
>still using free vpns
if you actually care about privacy enough to do bullshit like this you should actually pay for a good vpn

I'm not going to spend the money until I know what I'm doing.
