Hey guys,
I've been on this board for almost 2 years but I never ever watched any Anime in my life.
But since I see so many Anime enthusiasts on /bant/ I want to give Anime a shot.
Where do I start now? What's the first Anime I should watch? Can I download it from piratebay?
I don't want to spend money on this.
Thankyou.

Probably should start with Ghibli.
Either...
Kiki's Delivery Service,
Howl's Moving Castle,
Spirited Away, or
The Wind Rises.
Try it with subs in the original language first but if you have to then go with the dubs.

Action, comedy, horror, softcore porn..?
What are you in the mood of?

Hey thanks a lot guys, I never thought I was even gonna get replies on this thing.
BTW I was shooed away by >>>/a/ for this request to here.
I actually never visited this board ever.
Are you guys regular here. What keeps you on this board? I mean you're the hero 4chan needs but doesn't deserve.

Anything that's good. I'm going with just Random.

/wsr/ and a single general on /vg/ are the only places I frequent on 4chan. This is a useless website but I've gotten some valuable help here before, and getting thanked makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Working! is good, I watched with my sister once (she's not too into anime) and we liked it. Some parts induce a bit of a culture shock ("Uguu let me pat your head") but it's mostly very enjoyable.
I loved Trigun too, that's a bit older and might not have the same visual quality newer shows have.

Yeah, /a/ don't do requests.
I usually stick to /tv/, /jp/, /diy/, & /t/. I pop in almost every day to /wsr/ to see if there's anything I can help with. I rarely go to /a/ though.

watch yuruyuri
OP just pick a show that is in a genre or about a topic you already like. Anime has a lot of variety in it, so go with something that matches your interests. That's a good way to find something you will enjoy watching.
Without giving people some kind of idea of what you're into you're just going to get generic recommendations. The ultra-safe "entry level" titles with the broadest possible appeal, stuff that even your grandma could watch and enjoy. And you'll probably enjoy them because that's the point of recommending them, but it's not really what anime is about. If you want meatier recommendations you have to be specific about what you want.

My home board is /a/, I come to /wsr/ semi-regularly to give anime recommendations because that's largely what this board was made for. It encourages people to use /wsr/ instead of /a/. To understand why /a/ hates rec threads, you have to understand how utterly generic they are. Even this thread is exactly the same as thousands of other rec threads that have been made on /a/ and /wsr/ in the past. It's always some clueless guy (no offense) asking for generic recommendations and he gets the exact same formulaic responses, every time. Imagine having that exact thread 10+ times every day. It gets on your nerves when your board is meant to talk about anime, not constantly introduce a flood of newfags to your hobby with the exact same 20 or so entry level titles. You go to reddit's r/anime board and it's full of rec threads exactly like this one.
Also I normally pass on threads like this because while you think you're being open minded and helpful by saying "recommend me anything" you're actually giving people nothing to work with and they have to default to the same generic titles as always. What I, and other people, enjoy is giving personal recommendations where we can sell you the shows and talk about why we like them. Hard to do that when the guy is just a blank slate with no apparent interests in anything, where do you even begin to talk about a show's appeal if you don't know what appeals to him?
