Need help remembering an anime

I've been having a hard time trying to remember this, I used to have the VHS for it, and I've looked through anime listings of 80s and 90s anime, and haven't found anything that looked quite right to what I remember.
All I can really remember is that it was in a fantasy medieval sort of setting, in the first episode there was a scene near the beginning of a girl, who I think was blonde, being imprisoned by bandits or slave traders or something like that, there was also a guy part of the main cast who, I think had red hair and used fire magic, I also remember the cover of the VHS box a bit, I think it showed multiple characters and some sort of demon in the background.
Sadly that's all I remember, but hopefully someone might be able to help me.
