Can anyone here help me figure out an internet issue?
Me and my roommates recently upgraded our internet speed because the internet was always crashing for me when I use my computer.
So after we upgraded it, my roommates noticed a speed difference yet my computer acted like nothing changed. Still slow and crashing a lot. I'm starting to suspect my computer is actually crashing the internet. But even when I close every application that uses internet, watching a simple Youtube video or downloading the smallest thing will still crash the internet.
I've searched my computer for malware, scanned it many times for viruses, downloaded wireshark to see whats causing this issue but I can't find anything.
Do i need to buy a new network adapter for my computer? We already bought a new modem because we increased our speed but still no changes on my computer.
I'm exhausted trying to figure this out. Idk if this board is the right one to ask this but I really need some help.

If your computer is the only one making the internet speed lag for everyone and regular antimalware software can't find a thing, probably it has been turned into a zombie.

Unless you're a networking expert you aren't going to understand Wireshark captures.
You have no choice but completely format the thing. Save your documents and data, wipe out the disks and do a fresh reinstall.

exactly. use malwarebytes and ccleaner for starters.

I am not OP but I have a question about this process. In this situation if a person was to save the pictures and music he wanted onto a thumb drive, then remove the hard drive and replace it with a new one, would that guarantee that the virus would be gone? Or may it still be there somewhere?
