I'm trying to solve this complex circuit, I need to find the R equivalent (all Rs are equal).
Did I simplify it right?
Here's a better look at the circuit in question.

by symmetry the current in the top resistor is obviously 0 (you can flip it 180° and get the same circuit but with the current going the other way so it must be 0) so it's a virtual open circuit.
2R||2R || R = R || R = 1/2 R

What about the one in the bottom?

What? It's effectively 3 parallel strings, 2 with 2 resistors, and 1 with 1 resistor.
The one bridging the 2 pairs in the middle does nothing. You can cut it out or short it.

I don't understand the flipping part of your answer.

I=-I
2I=0
I=0
