First time lurker and poster here.
Just bought a brand new desktop over the weekend and I've been having some struggles with it from the get go. Immediately I was having issues with downloading files and it remains with a pitiful internet connection. My late laptop connected better and downloaded faster than this thing. I'm paying for 25/25 but I'm only getting .67/1.25 when I would be getting 5/10 on my laptop. Pic related.

if you bought it new you should use the customer care.
the laptop gives you full range of bandwith ?
check if network adapter is installed properly.
check router for connection troubles.

but anyways if you're having internet problems on a new computer maybe check to see if the network adapter's drivers need to be updated
also, is it a wired or wireless connection?

It's wireless because my router is unfortunately downstairs and across the entire house. I had bought a wifi extender but it doesn't help

its perfectly normal for a desktop with an antenna surrounded by metal from one side and a wall from another (and probably being closer to the floor) to get worse wifi reception than a laptop
im afraid the way to go is either getting a better wifi antenna for the desktop card or "upgrading" to cable, just like >>312668 said
