Looking for LNs/books/stories/fiction exploring "mindbreak"(?) as tool of conversion/indoctrination on small scale (1-3 perpetrators, 1 would be best).
Basically something that goes like:
> opponent or unwilling participant
> forced through torture / traumatic experiences
> ???
> becomes ally/subordinate/sidekick of perpetrator
I don't mean a "2+torture=5" trope.
Also not a fear based thing like GoT Ramsey Bolton and Theon Greyjoy.
I guess "corruption" can sometimes work. but most of times its done through positive experience.
"Rain of grain" kinda touched on it but it wasn't really explored.
preferably accomplished without sex, but i guess that's unlikely
The Manchurian Candidate
Overlord LN has some of this, but it is more comedy than serious shit.
MC gets turned into evil Necromant Overlord and everybody assumes whatever he does is part of some dark plot. For example he breaks a king by getting bored and joining in a training spar, in which he demolishes what was supposed to be the secret weapon against him.
Or he uses a flashy spell because he thinks people will see it as cool and thank him for his help. But they are actually mortified since it is so horrible to them and join him out of fear, which he does not compute. That sort of thing. He unwittingly breaks a shitload of people through the books and it is damn hilarious at times.
