I'd like some slice of life anime recommendations. Something mellow, relaxing, and super comfy in general. The thing is - I'd like something with no (or minimal at best) moe. The characters still can be cute and/or waifu/husbando material visual design-wise, but I'd like them to act a bit more on the normal side of things, as far as anime goes. Preferably also nothing too wacky or focused on comedy - I don't really find Japanese humor funny in most cases. Anything you can think of that I'm likely to enjoy?

Try Welcome to the NHK. I think that's considered a slice of life. But if you don't enjoy Jap humor, I doubt you'll enjoy an anime about a Jap subculture

Think about it. The genre of slice of life is literally just watching the daily lives of these characters. That's boring as fuck. Things like moe, wackyness, and comedy are added because it's what drives the genre. If you remove those, you might as well just watch a house with a surveillance camera. It's going to be the same experience.

I don't actually watch anime, so I can't speak to how well any of those adaptations worked.

OP ignore those first, watch Aria, it's pretty much the quintessential "comfy" anime and the characters are cute without being too moe-like. One of the best anime out there and it's the definition of relaxation. Also the soundtrack is one of the greatest, I highly recommend.
