Does anyone have a complete zip of Wolfram Mathworld? If so, can you please give me a link? I can't download it through wget for some reason. If this is too illegal for you, please recommend some great alternatives.

Are ya kidding me?
>>

What does Mathworld offer that Octave does not, exactly? I don't really know what it does, but I think the answer is probably "do your own homework, don't really on the computer".
>>
>>305101
Hmm, let's see. Mathworld has articles on particular topics, while Octave is basically a software like wolfram Mathematica.
That's the difference. If there is any such text-on-certain-topics kinda thing in Octave, please let me know. I don't know of any such thing to exist, and would be happy to be corrected.
>>
>>305338
Why do you need these articles? Is it any different than what Wikipedia would offer? I'm a math major and have never felt it necessary to use something like this.
>>
>>305567
I'm not, and I feel I learn stuff better that way (since I can always search for new stuff on the go/in places without internet connection). I guess I'll have to tweak wget in some way, then.
>>

>books offer this.
>>
>>305634
if searching pages without internet is the dealbreaker, then >>305682, or just save wikipedia pages as pdf.
>>
>>305634
>>305820
plus there's an abundance of notes available for every undergrad topic that you can snag online for free
>>
>>305822
Nvm, I found a way to download MathWorld. I'm also reading books, it's just that MathWorld has it all by topic, and I don't have to read a whole book to revise a particular topic.

Care to tell me how ?
I'm very interested .

If you've got a rpi you can run Mathmatica for free.

Using wget on linux

Not disclosing the entire thing in here, I don't want the server to be unavailable or something.
>>
>>306071
I dont have a PC unfortunately, would it be too much to ask you to upload it to mega if it's not too big ?
>>
>>306073
You could download it on Android, I guess. (Wget is available, but idk if it supports disabling robots.txt). I have a really bad internet connection, lemme check.
>>
>>306074
Is it basically the entire database with each category sorted and everything is in pdf file or what ?
>>
>>306076
Each page is in HTML, I really hope latex works in this one though. I don't know how to add LaTeX support to an entire offline website, and I don't have the time to batch process the whole thing into PDFs (as the program I know would ignore hyperlinks). I need some more experienced programmers here.
>>
>>306076
They have the wolfram notebooks too.
>>
>>306076
It's actually a huge mess with all normal topics (like MersennePrime.html for one) in the parent folder, and in the topics folder, there are topics (like DiscreteMathematics.html)
They probably made it so that people like us would have trouble with the folder rs, while the server wouldn't give a damn
>>
>>306076
I'm keeping this idea of mine on hold, until I understand whether I would be able to implement LaTeX in the offline version.
I did a basic web scrape with robots.txt turned off using wget, and user agent as 'mozilla'. Any decent Linux user should understand this. Do it if you like. I'll be putting this on hold for now.

Turns out all this stuff wasn't required at all. MathWorld has a book. Why did no one tell me this before?

Here's a better version. Honestly, this thread feels very useless now, so I hope it dies soon.
