I have a penny that appears to be aluminum and was minted in 1988. it has a d on it which I think means it was minted in Denver. It is not magnetic, and weighs just over 2 grams. I cannot find reference to it anywhere online, and was hoping someone here would know it's value.
the back
The US mint never minted any aluminum coins, save for a couple ultra-rare and well-documented test coins. The average penny post 1982 (when they stopped minting them with pure copper, and instead copper plated zinc) weighs ~2.5 grams, so you probably just have an eroded/worn down 1988 penny, anon.
sorry dude he's right.>>301949
your penny is worth 1 cent.
the copper pennies (not the new zinc ones) are actually worth somewhere between 1 and 2 cents.
you're worse than some motherfucker on /b/ who is all I know her she goes to my school say 50 hail marys and eat 50 pounds of filthy 1980s change until you die
