Not just computers. It's called the Pareto principle and it states that "for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes."

In Japanese it means you can learn 80% by focusing on 20%. This is
1. Pronunciation
2. Structure (particles, order, etc.)
3. Culture

My Jap language teacher recommended it and I find it a lot more sensible than "learn these words. Ok now learn these words. Ok now learn these particles. Ok now learn..." which is what most study plans seem to focus on, simple memorization.

Can't find it anywhere but on the guy's site.
