it can also be the lcd, no way to be sure unless you test one of the two (gpu or lcd) on another machine

Does TeamViewer count? I used it on my phone to view my laptop and it looks fine.

If it's any help, instead of a black screen, the computer is starting with a bright green screen(during the POST screen).

If your monitor is more than five years old, then I recommend replacing it, as it is always good to stay with technology that's a bit more current. Mainly due to a little something called planned obsolescence.

Yeah, if it's a 5 years old laptop, the cost of the fix is not worth it, it doesn't matter if it's the graphics card or the monitor.
