Finally someone with brains. First let me tell you than yes, there is a lot of games you can just sudo apt-get install, the trick is that their developers don't publicize their games so you have to sort through the package manager or find a good website for reviews.

For a few recommendations thou, there is 0 A. D. which is a real time strategy game:
sudo apt-get install 0ad

Oolite is a space fly and trade simulator:
sudo apt-get install oolite

The Battle for Wesnoth is a very popular strategy game:
sudo apt-get install wesnoth

And SuperTuxKart is a 3D kart racing game with amazing graphics:
sudo apt-get install supertuxkart

And if you want even more cutting edge free games you can install the PlayDeb repository of games which has tons of games (like Vega Strike, Xonotic, OpenDungeons.....) http://www.playdeb.net/updates/Ubuntu/16.10#how_to_install
