SO, i want to watch an anime movie with my father( he recently started to watch anime. We watched Ghost in the shell,The Hokuto no Ken movie and one punch)
What movie would you recommend to a middle age man who is huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy?
>>292589
older people usually love the miyazaki movies
>>292589
Does it have to be a movie?
If not ... Steins;Gate
>>292629
Nah, it can be anything, i say movies because is more easy to jump into them
>>292638
does he like serious stuff? maybe like Mushishi.
and it's not sci-fi or fantasy, but maybe bartender
Tokyo Godfathers.
Or really, all of Kon's movies.
>>292653
YEah, i think he will like that
He just doesn't like "neko-desu" anime if you know what i mean
Listen to me right now. Does he like somewhat fictionalized military stuff?
Patlabor 2 (doesn't really need the rest of the series for context) or Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade
>>292654
Thank you
>>292677
Yeah, i mean, he loves the whole terminator franchise and robocop, so i guess sounds good to me
thanks
>>292680
Patlabor 2 is about a military coup, whereas Jin-Roh is basically about post-war militarized police that look like nazi's.
>>292681
>Patlabor 2
I showed him some screenshots just now
He likes it, so thanks a lot again
>>292685

Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Record of the Lodoss War, you fucking plebeian.
If he grew up watching Robotech then hit him with Macross Plus. If that works, try Macross Frontier next.
>>292589
jin roh the wolf brigade
Fairy Florence

>If that works, try Macross Frontier next.
That's a terrible idea unless you're intending to turn off OP's old man from anime for good. Nothing but the same asinine type of wish fulfillment trash that plagues modern anime so heavily.

>my father( he recently started to watch anime.
My dad is 50 yo and has always been a fan of all sci fi. Star Wars, Star Trek, Space 1999, Battlestar Galactica, etc etc.
He introduced me to old school Warner Bros's Wile E Coyote vs Roadrunner cartoons when I was a kid. He also beat me with it by knowing all about GitS and Gundam already.
It's great if you know what your dad likes, like the genres and so on.

Or maybe the old guy just wants to see transforming robots fighting against aliens and big-titted blonde singers (or possibly green-haired loli) rocking out.
>>293887
That would be pretty cool if Frontier actually had good music and didn't focus so much on crappy teen melodrama instead of high speed robo-jet action. But sadly, it didn't. May as well just throw in a recommendation for Gundam SEED and Guilty Crown while we're at it.
get into old mecha/robo blurays
>>293893
>Gundam SEED
>Guilty Crown
I mean, yeah, Macross F is a retarded choice, but yours are way worse.
For Gundam, stick with UC/late UC (F91, V, G:Reco). Only AUs acceptable are the Build Fighters (and maybe not even Try), V, G, Turn A and - maybe - W.
Have a slightly outdated chart.
Other than that, the Break Blade movies are pretty good if you want mecha.

>but yours are way worse.
That was sarcasm, to emphasize how awful a pick Frontier is.
