I've written a "Hello, world." program in the Netbeans IDE. While it runs fine in the IDE, if I try to run it from my /dist/ folder, nothing happens. Would someone please tell me what's going wrong and how I can make it run? Would be much appreciated.

How are you trying to run it outside of the IDE which does everything automatically? Are you compiling it correctly beforehand? Are you creating a class- file as required?

Don't know how to do that. Would you be more specific? Still very new to java sorry.

open up a command line window (console), navigate to your /dist/ folder (cd <folder_path>) and run it there using
>java myprogramname.class
or
>java -jar myprogramname.jar
