I wouldn't blame win7 until you've tried installing something else, like some flavor of linux, because what you describe could easily be a hardware problem.

If this doesn't work, run a disk check using the command prompt in the install disk. Type in "chkdsk /f" in the prompt and let it work itself out. Then just reinstall. Also, if you STILL have trouble after you have installed, run this command as well: "sfc /scannow", it should fix any existing boot errors
