I want to game, run discord, background music, and stream to Twitch using OBS at the same time. I was going to run with an i7-7700k but after Ryzen came out I was thoroughly confused. Is the 7700k ok for this, or should I go to AMD? I've never done AMD before.

Both will do the job, but the ryzen will be cheaper.

yup, but then again any system can have that, sometimes its caused by crappy (read: badly coded) device drivers. if the processor is indeed to blame make sure its running in "high performance" mode all the time and you should be good

Ryzen won't be as good as the i7 for gaming, but should handle everything else better probably.
