I need help with this Excel sheet
In order to ease my tasks, I need to program a column in excel that finds a word in another column (in this case its CC), and retrieves the value of another column related to that row in which Excel found the word.

The process would be the following:

- Find specific word (CC)
- Take note of the row in which it found it
- Copy the value of another column in the same row
- Write it in the cell where the program is written

Later, I need to do a modification and overwrite the value I copied before with the new value, in the same position

Thanks a lot, work is pic related

Use VLOOKUP.

You've posted 90% of what you're trying to do, which isn't enough to tell you how to do it, merely enough to tell you what you need to learn.

Does VLOOKUP work with strings? I see it works with specific cells but I want it to search for text
Also I can be more specific, if you tell me what is missing from my petition

As an update for someone who reads this:

I've been using the function MATCH() to find the string I wanted, but I'm having some issues.

I'm using the next formula:

=MATCH("F";TRIM(A3:B9);0)

Which I expected to return the position of the value I was looking for. In this case is the string "F"

However, Excel is returning a #N/A error and I don't know what to do

I even tried setting the format of the cells which contained strings to "Text" and entering the formula with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER, but still doesn't work
