I just bought an old Microsoft mouse and was really hoping that I could get it to work on my computer. Alas it doesn't respond at all when I plug it into my ps2 port. does anyone know if it's even possible to use one of these with Win10? pic related.
>ps2 port
the mouse port is green. if you're talking about the ps2 port on a laptop you'll need a splitter.

This is for my desktop. The port on my motherboard is the half blue half green that (I think) can be used for both.
>half blue half green
you will need that splitter.

Alright. I wasn't sure if that's how it worked. Thanks!

You only need a Y-cable if you want to connect a keyboard *and* a mouse. See pinout.

It isn't; he's an idiot and shouldn't be posting misinformation here.

It's probably a power supply issue: the PS/2 port on modern boards can't supply the power ancient peripherals need.
A USB adapter like >>271596 will probably sort you out. Don't get the kind that just changes the shape of the connector: that's for newer mice that do USB and PS/2.
