The best Zelda is Link's Awakening.
> that story
> that music
> that game mechanics (pretty good for a fucking 8-bit handheld)

Are you 12 to have not played the older Legend of Zelda titles?

Link's Awakening is interesting that it's experimental and I have nostalgia for it because it was my first Zelda game. LA also had a few really interesting dungeons but I do have one very negative memory, as a youth I softlocked my game in Eagle's Tower by accident.
You see, the shell you use to destroy the pillars to lower the boss got stuck on the edge (adjacent to the wall) of a pit, so there was no way to move the shell (could only be moved by picking it up, no way to stand on the other side of the pit). Definitely hurt young me a lot.
However I got the most playtime out of ALTTP. There's a reason everyone says it's the best Zelda game. Best open world, and those endgame powers you get are just fucking fun. Medallions YES.

I agree with you that the Eagle Tower was pretty frustrating. That particular situation didn't happen to me, but I was stuck in that dungeon forever. It didn't help that I didn't speak English at the time, so progress was slow all around.
Sage because no need to bump this thread, I think.
