Can you recommend me some anime, /wsr/? I made a list that came up using AniDB's tags and I narrowed it down to 80. Tell me which some of these are relevant to my interests: http://pastebin.com/t63eUND9
(If I missed some, feel free to share.)

I'm looking for:
- anime with sexy or badass female leads that fight with fists, kicks or swords
- magic/superpowers can be used, but with choreography (moving around) or not the main emphasis
- from 2010-2016

and I don't want:
- anime with too much comedy/slice-of-life/ecchi/harem hijinks instead of fighting and scenes that move the plot forward
- anime with too much emphasis on magic summoning stuff while standing still instead of moving around and getting close and personal
- gary stu harem MC (I prefer main male characters to be sidekicks or non-action ones and let the girls shine)

I slowed down in anime this decade and I feel like I got a lot to catch up. Pic related is some of the recent and not-so recent anime of the genre I've enjoyed.

I guess Resident Evil: Damnation and Tekken: Blood Vengeance might count, but they both only have one fight scene with female characters. I have also seen Dead Fantasy and Kung-Fu Cooking Girl, even though they're not made by Japanese.

I have also seen, but not enjoyed:
- Blade & Soul
- Kill la Kill
- Master of Martial Hearts
- Tenjou Tenge
- Maken-ki (too much slice-of-life fillers)
- Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girl (same as above)
- RWBY (not an anime I guess, but still)
- Legend of Korra (obviously not an anime, not the reason I dislike it though)

*Now, pic sources for anyone curious:
- Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny
- Freezing
- Agent Aika
- Sekirei: Pure Engagement
- Bayonetta: Bloody Fate
- Senran Kagura
- Super Street Fighter 4 OVA
- Manyuu Hikenchou
- Birdy the Mighty Decode
- Ga-Rei Zero
- Jubei-chan 2
- Symphogear

I'm not seeing anything on that list that leaps out at me as fulfilling your conditions. I see some "maybes" though:
Akame ga Kill
Fate/Stay Night UBW
Gatchaman Crowds
Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta

Those are ones that I think might appeal to you the most out of what I saw, but I'm not guaranteeing anything. Also I personally can't stand AgK, but it does have a lot of girls who fight in melee so I begrudgingly listed it.

I will, however, save you some effort by listing stuff I know for sure won't interest you. Cross these off your list:
Absolute Duo
Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon
Black Bullet
Blade Dance of Elementalers
Brynhildr in the Darkness
Dragonar Academy
Gonna Be the Twin-Tail!!
High School DxD
Hundred
Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia
IS: Infinite Stratos
Lord Marksman and Vanadis
Lostorage Incited Wixoss
Majikoi: Oh! Samurai Girls!
Nyaruko: Crawling with Love!
Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn
Sabagebu! Survival Game Club!
Strike the Blood
The Asterisk War
The Qwaser of Stigmata
Triage X
Trinity Seven
Unlimited Fafnir

All those are either harems, comedies, or otherwise trip your red flags. Note that I actually like a few of those titles and consider them fun anime (like Sabagebu for instance) but they're not what you want, at all. That goes for other stuff I didn't mention in either list I made.

Do those anime heavily lean towards harem/comedy/SoL stuff or do they have a right balance between that kind of stuff and action? Because I can take a bit of light fun moments.

IIRC, Ikkitousen, Sekirei and Senran Kagura have a bunch of that but it was still balanced (except Ikkitousen Great Guardians), Jubei-chan is wacky/slapstick comedy with action and Manyuu Hikenchou is silly adventures that talk about martial arts stuff.

>Do those anime heavily lean towards harem/comedy/SoL stuff or do they have a right balance between that kind of stuff and action?
Well there's a bunch of different shows there. Some of them are battle harems. If you're not familiar with that particular genre, they're all light novel adaptations and they're all so starved for original ideas that if you've seen one you've pretty much seen all of them, and no that's not really an exaggeration. They are just plain bad, not even worth it for the fan service in most cases. Some of these copy/paste battle harems are: Absolute Duo, Anti-Magic, Blade Dance, Dragonar, Hundred, HxH Gakuen, Asterisk War, Fafnir, etc. Some of those have decent fanservice if you want fap material I guess, but there's so much better things to watch.

Then you have a few others that are comedies and SoL, and by that I mean they are straight up comedy and SoL, the action is either all slapstick or done in a perfunctory way that's not really the core of the show. Examples of those are Sabagebu, Nyaruko, and Twintail. Well Twintail's action is more legit, but it's like 80% comedy, 20% toku homage.

Though if you liked Senran Kagura maybe you could try DxD and Twintail. DxD is pretty lewd, but I unironically love it even if it's kind of a guilty pleasure. It's genuinely funny and has some pretty hype fights (though lacking in the kind of choreography you want with battle damsels, save for one character who doesn't get much screentime).

valkyrie drive/triage x are both r18 that aired recently like this. watch the bds

Hmm, well Freezing and Sekirei can also be described as battle harem (the latter moreso than the former), but do they compare to LN battle harem? I heard a little bit about them and saw some scenes. It seems to mostly revolve around magic schools with a MC with female characters lusting for his dick and being less powerful or even useful than him if at all. Am I wrong with my assumption? Because at least, girls in Freezing and Sekirei can knock out people without waiting for the MC to step in.

About those SoL/comedies, are those three the only ones in my list? I'll note them if I wanna watch some in the future.

What about Majikoi?

>>257985
Can you tell me a bit more about Valkyrie Drive? Is it really of the same ilk as OP pic?

And I got 1 vote for and 1 vote against Triage X. Can you guys tell me more about it?

>It seems to mostly revolve around magic schools with a MC with female characters lusting for his dick and being less powerful or even useful than him if at all. Am I wrong with my assumption?
No you pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

>About those SoL/comedies, are those three the only ones in my list?
I'd also say Ben-To is more comedy than anything else, so make that four. That's just the series I've seen though, I can't vouch for ones I know nothing about. I think I've watched about 80% of the shows on your list though.

I think I'll list out some shows I see that I think are pretty good and worth a watch but don't really fit your conditions or fall into any of the categories previously described:
Angel Beats (supernatural drama, some comedy, but lots of feels)
Koukaku no Pandora (wacky lesbian girls set in the cyberpunk world of Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell)
Gate (assuming this is about the self defense force anime, it's basically modern military vs dragons and knights and shit, I found it really fun)

Stuff that I didn't enjoy very much but you might is:
Coppelion (got too weepy for my taste, but the setting and artwork is really nice)
Tokyo Ghoul (I loved the manga, the anime.... not so much)
Re:Zero (dropped at episode 12, got too edgy for my tastes, but other people rave about it so you might like it)

Also I realized I overlooked Momo Kyun Sword and Bahamut when looking for shows to cross off your list. The former is this fanservicey retelling of Momotaro that looks like it was funded by the Japanese Board of Tourism, and the latter is yet another magic academy battle harem that I actually dropped after like 2 episodes, hence why I didn't recognize it immediately.
>>
>>258176
I'm the guy who originally said no to Triage X, but Valkyrie Drive is basically softcore lesbian porn crossed with Soul Eater (if you ever saw that show). Basically some girls can turn into magic weapons, and they have to be paired with users who can "activate" them, and the activation process is achieved via orgasm. Lots of uncensored tiddies.

I crossed Triage X off because it's pretty much just a fanservice show, but if you want fan service then go ahead. I admit I didn't watch much of it so maybe it got really good like 8 episodes in, so feel free to discount my vote of no confidence.
>>
>>258228
Actually, half of the OP pic are fanservice shows, but it just happens that... Well, it happens during the fights too (clothing ripping, pantyshots and boobshots while getting kicked in the ass). Fights are exciting, as well as titillating. This kind of fanservice may be too tame for today's standards though.

That said, how do Valkyrie Drive and Triage X fare in the fighting aspect? Or are they just ecchi anime with little fight scenes?
>>
>>258429
Both are also action anime. Valkyrie Drive has plenty of action, almost every episode I believe, and some fights can last most of an episode. As I said, I didn't really watch much of Triage X but it was also pretty action oriented. Not just fanservice for its own sake like Kiss x Sis.
>>
>>258445
Alright.

Tokyo Ghoul, I guess I'll stick to the manga. Everything else is noted. Did you dislike AgK only for the anime or you didn't like the manga as well?

Also, is there something I should add before getting into Fate/Stay Night UBW? Like Fate/Zero and stuff?
>>
>>258447
I thought the anime was mediocre so I read the manga instead, only to find it was actually worse. The artist has no idea how to choreograph action (or even draw characters properly in a scene) and that's all the story has going for it. The anime at least is drawn by competent artists and has animated fight sequences. Since you can stomach cliche plots you might not mind it so much, looking back I'm not even sure why it rubs the wrong way so badly considering all the shitty battle harems I've watched. I guess it's because it was so nicely animated despite being such shlock.
>>
>>258447
Oh, well the ideal starting point for the Fate franchise is the original Fate/Stay Night visual novel, but its a really long game and if you can't be assed to do that then it doesn't really matter where you start. F/SN is the original title in the franchise, F/Z is a prequel that spoils a lot of the stuff that happens in it, but the stuff it spoils isn't actually in the F/SN:UBW anime because that adapts a different rout than the one that F/Z spoils... basically it's complicated and it doesn't matter. Just watch whatever, or play the game if you're up to it.
>>
>>258475
Alright. You've been a big help. Thanks.

Cliched plots? Eh I dunno. This is the reason why I didn't like Kill La Kill and RWBY, even though the former is supposed to be a parody of shounen (and they both have shitty animation most of the time). Maybe I can tolerate a certain amount of cliches if the anime manages to cover it up with other stuff.

Speaking of cliches and battle harems, I remember my friend showing me anime like 11eyes and Night Wizard back in the days. Even though they're not LN adaptations, man those were some real crap. And, I mean, the last harem anime I enjoyed were Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari and Sekirei s2, the former because it's Tenchi Muyo and the latter because it's a proper panty fighter and both having well-endowed female characters. Going back on topic, so far, from what I gathered in this thread, this is gonna be my main list to watch:
- Akame ga Kill (maybe? it seems controversial)
- Ben-To
- Fate/stay night UBW
- Gatchaman Crowds
- Gonna Be the Twin-Tail!!
- High School DxD
- Tokyo Ghoul (only manga)
- Triage X
- Valkyrie Drive
- Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta

Some miscellaneous stuff I could watch on the side if I'm in the mood for:
- Angel Beats!
- Coppelion
- Gate
- Nyaruko
- Pandora in the Crimson Shell
- Re:Zero
- Sabagebu

And then, I rechecked the whole pastebin list and managed to narrow it down even more after crossing out harem crap. This is what I've got:

Most likely to be interested in:
- Blood-C
- Nobunagun (even though it seems to have no martial arts involved)
- Izetta: The Last Witch (same as above)

Still don't know (pic related):
- Dai Shogun: Great Revolution
- Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere
- Koihime Musou
- Mikagura School Suite
- Sengoku Otome
- The Ambition of Oda Nobuna
- The Rolling Girls
- Vividred Operation
- Wizard Barristers
Can anyone tell me which of these anime are relevant to my interests?

And comedy anime on the list to watch on the side that wasn't mentioned in the thread:
- Cat Planet Cuties
- Ghastly Prince Enma Burning Up
- Military
- Robot Girls Z
>>
>>258635
AgK has a super edgy first episode and tries to sell itself as one of those "anyone can die" series, but keep in mind it's a shounen title and that's mostly just smoke and mirrors with no substance.

>>258636
Blood-C from what I understand is extremely gory. Nobunagun I watched and actually enjoyed, the VA for the main girl is a noobie and did an excellent job, a shame the show was so low key and didn't sell well. I didn't really watch Izetta but it's one of those AU ww2 anime with magic and shit.

I think that's about all I can help with, good luck to you.
>>
>>258636
>- Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere

This technically has elements that you're looking for, but that's because it's a kitchen sink anime.

>- Robot Girls Z

The fights are slapstick comedy and bullying, and there's hardly any story. It's also filled to the brim with references to Dynamic Pro super robot anime from the 70s and 80s.
>>
>>258820
Can you tell me a bit more about Horizon? How are the fight scenes?
>>
>>259118
The story takes place within a culture that is attempting to rebuild itself by recreating historical events in a chronological order.

However, since they cannot differentiate what was factual and fantastical, and have inaccurate records to begin with, there are supernatural beings such as werewolves and people with bizarre magical abilities or super powers alongside flying airships with advanced science fiction weaponry and giant robots.

There are badass fighting girls but there's also an awful lot of things going on at the same time, and the fights can be unconventional.
>>
>>259178
Alright. I'll take a look. Thanks.
