can someone explain to me why this anime gets so much hate on 4chan?
i just got around to watching it and it seems like the typical SoL anime. but it gets an irrational amount of hate on 4chan. kinda reminds me of the lucky star hate but that was basically just people who hated moe in general.
given all the other similar animes out there, I can't make sense of this umaru hate.
where did it start? why do people sperg out when someone posts a reaction pic of her?
I've seen this happen on more than 1 board.

Somewhat true, moe anime fans get the same treatment as MLP fans. I've seen people spam Umaru reaction images on non anime boards.

but she's ridiculously similar to kyouko from yuru yuri. both loud bratty otakus who hate studying but still make great grades. they even look the same.
but kyouko seems to be well liked here for some reason while umaru is hated.

It is hated by non-anime watchers because it was synonymous with anime shitposting, and many shitposts were often accompanied by umaru pics
As an anime, it's okay but it loses its focus and starts being about the ensemble rather than umaru. Also, the comedy is mostly related to moe shit or weak, easy jokes. Nothing really memorable

i never go to /v/ so i missed out on that. since lots of people use /v/ that would also explain why they drag the hate onto other boards.
