How do I make a 1080p image out of this, without the pattern seeming repeated?
I tried to just copy it in place, merge and blur the whole image, then using soft brush and de-masking the border part, but the result wasn't so good.

With gradient tool it doesn't work because there "are not enough opaque source pixels", I have actually been learning photoshop, so I might not know what you're talking about

are you looking for: content-aware fill (photoshop) / resynthesizer plugin (gimp)?
i.e. fill an area with random texture based on the surrounding textures.
