Techfags, I need you help with this issue I've been suffering from for months now:
Whenever I press CTRL+backspace a square is generated instead of the previous word getting deleted.
Pic related explains the issue perfectly. Instead of the word Ccleaneer getting deleted, that fucking square shows up.
This issue happens in Windows Explorer windows and few programs that have old style search boxes (such as Bit Che), but not in Google Chrome or Video Games for instance.

CTRL-backspace isn't a Windows keyboard shortcut*, so programs are free to do whatever they like with it.
Your computer is doing what every other computer does; this is correct behaviour.

But I have been using Windows for the better part of a decade and CTRL+backspace always deleted the entire previous word. Windows XP, Vista, Seven and even 8 and 8.1 had this function.

You realise you're saying you know Windows better than Raymond Chen, right?

I am practically computer illiterate when it comes to technicality, so I can't claim knowledge of anything.
Are you telling me that this issue is inherent to Windows?

I'm telling you it's not an "issue", all Windowses work like this, and you're better off learning to press ctrl-shift-left then backspace, because these are actual documented Windows shortcuts.

Now I get it. Thank you so much.
