Yes I did, I know the rules, saw some examples. The problem is I don't know how to code it.

How can you not know how to code it?

If you know what's supposed to be happening, and can write out what's supposed to be happening, and you learned C in class, then you know how to code it.

Don't worry about premature optimisation, just implement the algorithm as described.

Go code it, and come back if you have a specific problem.
