I have a relatively old and decayed PC I'm trying to revive. Help me bring it to life? I'm at my wits end, and the motherboard may very well be fried.
Specs: ASUS M4A89GTD pro motherboard.
What do I need hooked up at a minimum to get the bios to boot? Currently it comes on, but no video signal is sent, not do my mouse or keyboard light up. I'm getting no sound codes or flashing lights.
I don't even know what this blur hybrid shit is, but plugging it into the power supply makes the motherboard throw a DRAM_LED at me.
There is no cable going to the eight pin power connector. It will not boot without it

Which part is this specifically? The blue casing?

Because when I plug in the blue power connector, which I'm pretty sure is an eight pin, the DRAM_LED comes on and I still don't get a boot.

As long as the two circle power cables are plugged the mobo should boot to bios.... honestly tho.... just why?

Also..... WTF did you do to acquire that burn mark looking area? [green circle]

It's ancient dirt. I tidied it up slightly, but the entire motherboard had about an inch of dust and sand. This PC saw two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan before I got to it.

All that does is kick the DRAM_LED light on.

Try it with just one stick of memory.
If it doesn't work try the other one

No luck at all. I think it might just be dead. I changed the ram, reset the CMOS, but I just can't progress beyond DRAM_LED.
Well that's disappointing, I'll have to drop over a grand to build a new PC even close to its specs.

Check out your local Craigslist.org I saved around a grand buying used parts.
One problem is that the good parts for cheap go fast -_-
