I Just love their reaction.
Seeing a chopper like it some kind of metal monster.

you have a bit of this in Drifters, where somehow fantasy-medieval armies are fighting against guys owning a WW2 plane, a secession war gatling gun or radio-like communication devices, but it's nowhere near the scale of Gate, and a lot of the fights are swords/cavalry/musquets/bows-filled

There was a book with a couple of nations with sort of WWI era tech and psychics vs Fantasy Empire. Didn't complete it but I found it fucking amazingly interesting how the author balanced the issues - Artillery slaughters a load of things, but the lack of good counters to dragons in that era (No SAM's or fast enough cannon armed fighters) means that counter artillery is fucking insane.

Well kinda, if you consider WWII to be "modern combat".

Remember they had no portable computers of any kind: no encrypted radio, no guided missiles, no GPS, no data networking, no computerised radar, no fly-by-wire.

Very early on in Zipang, the crew of the frigate grapple with whether or not to sink a battleship, with one missile, from over the horizon.

Kinda awesome how our navy involved so much. ( I don't know a lot about Our navy combat so I'm so expert on modern naval warfare)
