So I watch a bit of Sword Art Online, but I dropped it after the first battle where the main character became an unbearable faggot. I liked everything up and before that, but that main character is everything I hate about anime. Is there any anime that replicate the same feel of the beginning, but pulls it off.

Konosuba builds a really cool and believable world which gave me this exciting "new mmo world" feeling, but it is more comedy and doesn't really have drama and almost no fighting.

Mind you, I watched it almost 15 years ago so maybe it's not quite what I remember, but I'm pretty sure it keeps the vibrant MMO world alive pretty well throughout the series.
