How do i make the denominators equal? Im not good with exponents.

It's basic variable exponent addition explained by >>214897
2x/2x = 1
(2x/2x) * ((2x-4)/(x^.5)) = (4x^2 - 8x)/(2x^3/2)
Now the denominators are the same. You could also multiply the two denominators to ensure you have a common denominator, but it will eventually reduce down to what I proposed.
