Good night guise, I'm in the mood for some films that take place on trains, or have a train trip as a large part of plot.
Any suggestions?

Would you recommend the '74 or the '01 version?

I haven't seen the '01 version, I was recommending the '74 version.
But that depends on whether you're okay with old films, not everyone is.

I found the '01 version on Youtube, so I'm going with that.
It's a direct-to-tv film, and it has all the cheese that one would expect from that, but I'm enjoying it.

Thank you for the tip regardless.

Lol, no worries.
If you like cheesy, or even bad, films there's always Snakes on a Train (2006).

An Wes Anderson film?
Aw yeah, now we're talking.
I also came across an animated film called '5 Centimeters Per Second', which seems to have something to do with trains, or at the very least enough of the stuff to come to my attention.
Now to wait for the torren... I mean, for the delivery of my legally bought copies, and see if it's any good.
Source Code is a pretty good one IMO.
Here's the wikipedia page if you wanna check it out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_Code
