I want to create an mobile app using at least 1 of the 3 stated languages. I haven't used html in highschool and I'm wondering if you should just use notepad or something like that?

you can do it on notepad but imagine if you had to draw a picture using microsoft word it's possible but unnecesary hard.
these are recommended (each have ups and dows)
Notepad++ (free and begginner's friendly but the interface could be a pain once you get into other stuff like laravel, ajax, jquery, meteor etc think windows paint vs photoshop)
Sublime Text (easy to learn and the design is pretty great to look at for long periods of time but it's not free - most people on web design use this one imho)
Vim (free, with hundreds of plugins/themes and 2 times faster than others but it takes ages to learn how to use properly check the video below it's a seminar from harvard about vim)
Nano (don't know much about this one but i heard linux people like it)
