A few months ago i unwittingly (moronically) downloaded a file on my computer that i thought was an obscure game from my childhood named "BettyBad",instead it was a virus (named zues apparently) that made my pc put it'self into a lockdown quarantine. The pc is on a blue screen (i'll send a pic of it later) that tells me to contact a number for help. I called the number but it doesnt work and no one picks up.
I decided to head to 4chan to see if anyone could point an idiot like me to someone who could fix my pc over phone/internet. I have only 130$ in my checking account right now to pay anyone with (just graduated highschool and still living with parents).
Is my request more stupid than i anticipated or am i in luck? Can someone point me in the right direction
Tfw>i wouldn't be in this situation if my nostalgia wasn't so retarded

this is called ransomware. you should try to access safe mode and system restore first of all.
i can't even believe people get caught in this shit, but you type like a redditor so it's to be expected i guess.
>>203498
If system restore doesn't resolve the issue, you can go into safe mode with networking, and go through these steps.

The pic is the current state of the computer
>system restore?
Im sorry to bug you but i have no idea how to do that, and from the way the screen is now im not even sure my laptop would allow me to do that...

>my bad

Is this a prebuilt?. can you post a picture OF the actual PC?. If it is you may have a factory reset partition which would help you out. If not you need to get to another computer to get hold of another ISO (Windows7/windows10/Linux) so you can re-install the OS. Either way you lost your shit.
>>203507
My pc is a prebuilt (dell inspirion of the 3000 series, a windows touch screen, if that means anything)
>>203508
I turned it off and back on while pressing f8 the whole time and it just started back up normaly with the blue screen. Am i missing something?
>>203520
what OS was on it?
>>203523
It's a windows 10 laptop
>>203525
Have you tried slamming F8 at startup and checking if there are any restore options?.
Is there a sticker on it with a Windows 10 serial you can use with re-installation?.
>>203526
>f8 method
I tried it 4 times and all i got was this screen at the END of startup
>>203528
My phone is acting retarded please forgive the flipped image
>>203528
F8 is the default on a lot of computers. Sometimes it's shift-F8. You may be screwed because, apparently, according to an article I read, Windows 10 can boot too fast to give you a chance to do either.

>>203528
You need to hit F8 earlier. with one hand hitting the power button have the other hand hitting F8 over and over. You should get to at least a safe mode. and From there if you can login and not see the malware can look in the start menu to see if there is a restore to factory settings option.
>>203531
Thanks for the heads up anon
>>203532
Is this what i should be seeing? I tried your approach and this is what happened...
>>203534
Click on 'See advanced repair options'
>>203534
I think so. Not sure with Windows 10 but that might lead to the traditional F8 options. What happens when you click "see advanced repair options"?
>>203536
What do ya think boss?
>>203543
Troubleshoot.
>>203543
Yeah, try troubleshoot. Still messed up there is no safe mode option.
>>203545
You will probably have an option to "Reset this PC" afterward, along with "Advanced Options."
Advanced Options is where you have "System Restore."
>>203535
>>203545
What do ya reckon I embark upon?
>>203546
Safe mode is apparently under Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, and then Startup Options.
>>203549
Dell backup and recovery. It's going to erase all your shit which is gone now anyways.
>>203550
I see. I would still do a factory reset unless you're really into trying to salvage your stuff from the malware.
>>203550
Is safemode method more tedious? I WOULD like to keep all my files (there was a fuck ton) but it was technically freeware so i would get it back eventually, plus i had to make you guys put up with my stupiditiy...
>>203557
Unless they are irreplaceable I would just wipe it all and reset my PC rather than deal with whatever shit the ransomware did to the PC.
>>203559
Okay, full wipe it is...
