Could you recommend some games similar to FFT and Tactics Ogre?

FFTA is awesome

There's tons of Tactical RPGs out there, what exactly did you like about those games? The story? Battle System? Characters?

The closest I can think of without taking those in consideration is the TO prequel, Knight of Lodis.

Try the Shining Force series.
Shining Force III (especially the third scenario, fan-translated) is pretty good.

Absolutely try the Disgaea series. The battle system is super fun and like nothing else. Party members can throw other party members around the battlefield, they can stack up (sitting on each other's shoulders), and there is this concept of going to dungeons inside your items (eg 100 levels inside your sword) where clearing the levels means powering up that item. It's good for many hundreds of hours of fun.
