What does your shitty old graphics card have to do with CPUs?
Also don't say "tyvm", it makes you look like an underaged mobile poster.
Also it depends on what the GHz of both are. It might be a shitty i5 1.3 GHz for all we know.

If you have the funds, go for a Z170 board with DDR4 and an i5 6600K. If you don't have the funds ordon't plan on overclocking, just get the non-K.
Any of the Skylake i5s are way, way way faster than the FX8000 series.
As in, so fast you can underclock them to 2.5GHz and still beat a 5GHz FX8000.

What processor? If its same/newer than a i5 2500k there isn't much reason to upgrade yet, especially before upgrading that old GTX
