Help a (human) out every time I try to download/update apps it says insufficient storage I have a 8 gb SD card inside so why isn't it working?
You're probably not saving to the correct storage. The app folder is probably in the "Phone" storage. You'd have to move the folder into the SD card.

Elaborate please
Your phone installs apps on the Device Storage (internal SD card) by default - the one that reads 7.40GB used of 8GB. That's why it won't let you install or update apps.
The solution: uninstall some apps you don't use, or move them to the Portable Storage (external SD card).
To move them go to Settings > Apps > Moveable, tap the App and then tap Move to SD Card.
OP is on a ZTE its not the same it doesn't show how to move apps to sd card I have the same problem with mine

Can't you connect it to your computer and look at it like a regular storage drive?

To transfer the transferable apps to SD, see >>190342
That said, in my experience, updating them moves them back to the internal storage
Remove all the photos that you've backed up in the cloud. Remove the music you don't listen to.
Never buy a handset with less than 32 GB internal storage. App developers are pigs that don't care about the user's storage and gorge on megabytes, with apps sometime going in the hundreds of MB.
Clear the cache of all applications you don't need the cache of (also doable from Android's Settings)

On a side note, google to see if your phone allows you to move apps onto an SD card. My previous phone allowed me to save media onto my SD card but it did not let me move apps/other programs onto it.
