Anybody know some good anime that explore this theme?

Haibane Renmei is a good example I guess

It can also be about dead people coming back to life, or even just near-death experiences

I think it's interesting and I'm surprised that I struggle to find anything on it

Angel Beats is pretty good. 15 episodes. But I dropped it at 9th episode because some love shit started to happen there. Also, there is good concerts.
