Hi gays. I had a GTX 760 that was working fine for months but then one day the signal would disappear after a few minutes and the computer would reboot. Then logging in and trying to use it would cause the problem to repeat itself. However, a 9800 GT still works in the computer. Is the card dead, or could it be something else?
I also tried using the card in another computer, and it worked. Then when I tried it again in that computer, this time after trying it again in my computer first, it didn't work. Some time passed between those tests, though.

Yes.
Servicing the cooler might keep it going, but even then it's never going to be reliable.

Ah. Thank you!
So the reason it worked in the other computer was essentially that it was "in the process of dying", you could say?

I reckon so.
It may well be working so long as it doesn't get too hot, in which case better cooling will help it stay working.

Hmm. So if I don't have access to any particular cooling equipment, would you say my best bet is to just get a new GPU (rather than e.g. purchasing cooling equipment)? (Also, I suppose I wouldn't want an annoyingly unreliable GPU anyway?)
((BTW, any opinion on getting the 960 as a replacement?))

Get a 1060 instead: yes it costs a bit more, but it's so much better it's not even funny.

I was intending to start a thread asking for recommendations. I'll keep this in mind while doing so - thanks!
