Ive been there. Shit like this has happened to me about four or five times all together.

A couple time I didnt manage to get the data back. When I was howevee I lucked out using getdataback partition recovery. I downloaded a bootleg veelrsion an it worked.

I suggesr that. Don't even waste your time with recuva or those other file recoveey programs.

What? Those programs have pulled me out of some serious shit.

OP, don't do anything else on that hard drive. At least try those programs, before something else overwrites those files. Don't get your hopes up, but don't throw away the chance that they're there.

Anyway, i'm keep using testdisk cause i launch another deep search .. wait and see..

>I'm on linux
So, obviously, NTFS recovery tools, such as recuva, getdataback aren't going to do shit, because the partition isn't NTFS.

OP, you're going to be missing the front of your disk. This is where the superblock of your EXT3/EXT4 partition lives; the superblock is quite important.

Your disk is supposed to look like this:
[boot partition*(ext4)][swap partition*][main partition(ext4)____________]
*these partitions might not be here
And now it looks like this
[BOOTABLE USB IMAGE]artition(ext4)____________]

So what you need to do is:
- BACK UP YOUR DRIVE, FFS. Don't attempt recovery on the only copy you have.
Yes, you might have to go buy a disk. Suck it up: it's your penalty for being a retard.

- Figure out where your main partition started. If you can find a backup superblock, this will give you the total block count. You can subtract this from where the partition ends to find where it was supposed to start
- Rewrite the partition table correctly. Now you'll have
__EMPTY_SPACE[___n partition(ext4)____________]
- Try to recover the ext3/ext4 partition, using the backup superblock: https://linuxexpresso.wordpress.com/2010/03/31/repair-a-broken-ext4-superblock-in-ubuntu/

If you can't find any backup superblock, you might be SOL.

OP here, my sys hard drive with linux is ok but like i said, it's my external HDD which is formated, and there is only one NTFS partition on it.
>>
>>174786
Then you should:
- buy a new hard drive
- back it up
- recreate the partition table on the backup (chances are the partition will start at 4k, because that's the first 4k-aligned sector that's clear of the partition table)
- use TestDisk on the backup to try to restore the partition's bootsector and MFT from their backup
- run GetDataBack on the backup to try to get your files back.

OP here,
I will try this.
One question, my external HDD is a 2TO, so if i do an image backup of the partition, how much space i need ?
Cause, i have another 1To hard drive and if i remember, i have only 800 GO on my broken drive and i dont know if i have enough space ?

>my external HDD is a 2TO, so if i do an image backup of the partition, how much space i need ?
2TB. Sorry.

Go buy another one: any mistake, any mistake at all, and you'll lose any chance of recovering your data.

Never try to recover without making a backup.

Looking at the NTFS spec, the backup bootsector should tell you how long the partition is, which means you can simply subtract it from the length of the disk to find where the partition starts and ends. Find it by looking near the end for the boostrap code, and then just before it should be the BPB that tells you the size of the partition.

Can someone please make the full intro of Mirai Nikki into a animated spray in the .vtf file format?

How i'm suppose to do that?
>>
OP here,
Finally, testdisk recover my partition, so i can access to the file list and i'm actually copying all my files to another computer using Putty, thanks bros :)
