Hi, I was playing FE8 when my iPhone suddenly crashed - or so I assumed.
When I tried to turn it on again it showed me te Apple logo. I tried charging it, and it DID boot with 1% battery life. Strange, given that the phone never game me any message about battery life.
It didn't go anywhere from 1% though, and eventually it turned off again and never turned on again. And now the Apple logo flashes when I plug it.
After some shit I did when I Googled this error, I put the iPhone in recovery mode. My LoL game is clocking at 20 minutes right now, and I plugged my phone before I even launched the game - and all that reads on iTunes is that "iTunes is currently downloading software for iPhone".
Please help =( what do.

TC here with an update.
I tried hard-resetting it and now the Apple logo just flashes.
Have you tried restoring in dfu mode?
>>172319
Yes, I have. That's where I got stuck updating.

Is the phone screen always black? Are you restoring using an ipsw file or a download through itunes?
>>172324
It blinks the Apple logo when I charge it, like I said in the OP. Otherwise it's black.
I tried updating through iTunes.
from the top
- turn it on
- put it in dfu mode (not recovery)
- restore through itunes using latest ipsw file
If that doesnt work then bring it to the applel store. There isnt much else u can do

Did this:
https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/DFU_Mode
iTunes says it's in recovery mode.

>iTunes says it's in recovery mode.
The next step should be pretty obvious, then?

OP, you're a fecking idiot.
Obviously your battery is EOL.
Obviously it's not booting because it runs off the battery and uses the charger to charge the battery.
There's no way software can do this, but you're fucking about with the software anyway.
Whatever data you didn't back up, you just erased. Good job.
Take it to a shop, and get a new battery.

>Obviously
Obviously? How is it "obvious"? This seems to be a known error with the iPhone, and what I did was a known fix.

>How is it "obvious"?
- Phone doesn't boot
- Battery reads 1%
- Battery doesn't charge
But no, go on and have a look in Settings for the switch marked "Battery works/doesn't-work".
>This seems to be a known error with the iPhone, and what I did was a known fix.
You're a retard. Either you've discovered a vulnerability in the iOS sandbox that you can sell for $300,000, or you have a broken battery. My money's on the latter.

>switches off from having no power
>boots once and stays at one percent
>switches off from having no power
>switches off every time it tries to boot
>"This seems to be a known error with the iPhone"; clearly what I need to do is reinstall the OS.
