Im having trouble using a recovery disk for my laptop.
Every time I insert the recovery dvd, it won't give me the option to boot it
This is what shows up when its inside the drive, it won't give me the option to boot it
But I know the drive is working working because it will show up when I insert the drives disk
this is the recovery disk on another computer
I think you may have to disable secure boot to get a prompt to boot from other devices, also if there is an option to delay the boot, use that to figure out which key to press during posting.
If nothing else, you may need to revert to legacy mode to get it to boot.

Do you actually have a system partition?
If you don't tell it where, it's going to try to work out which partition it thinks the computer will try to boot. Which may not be correct if you're not running it from inside a working Windows.

I don't actually know how this shit works and don't want to take it to a shop. I've just been using Google and this was one of the solutions.
I'm getting a bcd error code 0000034 when I boot it and automatic repair won't work, can't refresh pc because it says it's locked, and bootrec /fix commands don't work

Is it a possibility for you to download a windows 8.1 ISO and create a bootable flash drive?
My PC is a toaster from when windows 7 rolled out and just recently I tried to use a recovery disc only for it to give me errors.
I just went ahead and made a Bootable flash drive and reinstalled the whole system.
I don't wanna reinstall, I have some files on my HD I need
