Can't make an explicit rule out of this. Any help, thanks in advance:
n|an
1|1
2|4
3|9
4|16
5|25
6|36
7|49
8|64
The differences for "an" are 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15. The differences for "those" numbers is 2.

Are you serious? a_n=n^2

Yeah, I'm not good at math at all, let alone explicit rules. English is easier, imo. Thanks Anon.
Also the reason behind difference being 2:
diff_1=(n+1)^2-n^2
diff_2=(n+2)^2-(n+1)^2
diff_2-diff_1=(n+2)^2-2(n+1)^2+n^2=2
